The Cirque du Soleil theme Park at the Vidanta Resort in Nuevo Vallarta appears to be proceeding towards a 2018 opening.
From a November 2014 post:
Latin American resort developer Grupo Vidanta has announced plans for a Cirque du Soleil theme park to be located in Nuevo Vallarta, a planned community some 15 minutes from the Puerto Vallarta airport. The destination attraction is set to open in 2018.
Press reports indicate that the Cirque theme park will include a water park and a nature park. The park will have the capacity to allow 3,000 to 5,000 spectators for nightly performances. The plans call for at least two lands, the Village of the Sun and the Village of the Moon, as well as an outdoor evening show. In 2013, Grupo Vidanta announced an investment of $20 million in the construction of a 600 attendee capacity theater resident show of Cirque du Soleil in Riviera Maya (Mexico) near The Grand Mayan resort.
The acrobatic group also recently announced a partnership with Club Med to create the first Club Med Creactive by Cirque du Soleil, to open mid-2015 will in Punta Cana (Dominican Republic).
