Integral Group has proposed a film studio for Atlanta, an adaptive re-use of the General Motors Doraville Assembly Plant.  Integral Group has joined with Capstone South Properties for the project.

Dubbed, “Third Rail Studios, Integral would create a 130,000 SF studio as part of a first phase for the project.   Along with additional stages, shops, and vendor spaces, the studios would include some 270,000 SF of studio space at build-out.

Third Rail Studios would be part of an overall first phase of Integral’s large-scale mixed-use Project, Assembly.   Other districts at Assembly will include the Yards District with dining, entertainment, parks, art, retail and other businesses.  Assembly is envisioned to include more than 10 million SF of mixed-use space, construction over the coming decade.

The Doraville General Motors plant first opened in 1947, operated by GM’s Buick-Oldsmobile-Pontiac Assembly Division.  The assembly plant closed in 2008 as part of GM’s cost-cutting measures.
