Additional traffic analysis has pushed the construction start for American Dream Miami, to mid 2017. Triple Five Group hopes to get planning commission approval of its comprehensive development master plan amendment by February or March 2017. American Dream Miami will join Sawgrass Mills and Aventura Mall, as major retail-entertainment destinations in South Florida.
From a May 2015 news item:
Canada’s Triple Five Group bought its first tranche of land in northwest Miami-Dade to develop what could become North America’s largest mall and theme park complex. Triple Five plans to develop its American Dream Miami project on more than 200 acres in the area and has other land under contract with private owners. The 6.2 million SF project is to include shopping, dining, an indoor ski slope, skating rink, amusement park, theater, hotel, condos and more.
The massive venture is slated for land at the intersection of Florida’s Turnpike and Interstate 75 near Miami Lakes. It could cost as much as $4 billion to build.
Besides stores, the mall-theme park also would include indoor ice-skating, a Legoland park, a 500-foot observation tower, a roller coaster, observation wheel, indoor bungee jumping, a submarine ride, a sea lion show, miniature golf and other attractions on more than 4 million square feet, proposals show.
